The ABS system includes wheel speed sensors and a valve body. Usually we remove speed sensors for checking or for replacement, as well as when dismantling units

Removing the front wheel speed sensor

We remove the front wheel speed sensor to check it or replace it if ABS malfunctions are detected, as well as when removing the steering knuckle.

Press the latch and disconnect the front wiring harness block from the sensor wiring block

Remove the sensor wiring block from the holder attached to the wheel arch

We remove the rubber sleeve of the sensor wires from the plastic holder located on the mudguard

We remove two more rubber couplings of the sensor wiring harness from the slots of the shock strut bracket

Squeezing the petals of the wheel speed sensor clamps, remove the sensor from the mounting ring located in the hub assembly

We install the sensor in the reverse order, having cleaned the sensor installation socket before that.

Replacement of rear wheel speed sensor

We remove the rear wheel speed sensor to replace it in case of failure.

Using a flat screwdriver, unscrew the two plastic nuts securing the protective cover of the sensor wires

With a 10 head, unscrew the two nuts securing the casing

Remove the casing from the arch and remove the wiring harnesses from the casing holders

Press the latch and disconnect the rear wiring harness block from the sensor wiring block

We remove the rubber clutch of the sensor wiring harness from the slot of the bracket, and the wiring harness from the plastic holder located on the rear suspension beam arm

Using a Torx T-30 wrench, unscrew the sensor mounting screw

Remove the sensor from the hole in the brake shield.

Install the sensor in reverse order.

Removing the ABS block

The ABS unit is usually removed for replacement or for body work that requires access to body parts.

We install the car on a viewing ditch or lift

On the right side in the engine compartment with an open-end wrench for 11 or a special wrench for brake pipe fittings, unscrew the fittings of six brake pipes and disconnect the pipes from the hydraulic unit

Lift up the clamp of the wiring harness block

Disconnect the block from the control unit

We remove the brake pipe from holder 1 and the wiring harness from holder 2 of the ABS unit bracket

With a 13 head, unscrew the two bolts 3 securing the ABS block bracket to the body and remove the ABS block with the bracket.

The ABS unit is attached to the bracket through two rubber bushings.

If you need to replace the bushings, unscrew the two nuts with a 10 wrench to the bracket and separate the block and the bracket.

Install the block in reverse order.

After installation, we bleed the brake system.
