Unscrew the bolt of the rear lower screen mount to the front suspension subframe

Before disconnecting the tubes of the hydraulic lines from the crankcase of the steering mechanism, we substitute a wide container for collecting the leaking liquid under the crankcase.

From the bottom of the car, with a key on 13, unscrew the nut 3 of the mounting bracket of the drain line tube, with a key on 19 - the fitting 2 of the drain line tube and with a key on 17 - the fitting 1 of the discharge line tube.

We remove the tips of the tubes of both highways from the holes of the crankcase of the steering mechanism and insert plugs of suitable size into the holes of the tubes and the crankcase

We install a wooden bar with a length of 330 - 340 mm between the sump of the engine crankcase and the stretcher.

Shifting the steering gear down, we remove the steering gear drive gear from the hole in the front flap

Installing the steering mechanism in reverse order

Before installation, check that the rail is installed in the middle position.

To do this, with sliding pliers, we turn the steering gear drive gear in any direction until it stops and then turn the gear in the other direction by 1.5 turns.

The repeated use of the bolt and nut for fixing the fork of the hinge of the intermediate shaft of the steering column to the shaft of the steering gear is not allowed. The bolt and nut must be replaced.

Repeated use of the bolts securing the front suspension subframe is not allowed. Bolts are subject to mandatory replacement.

Before installing pipelines, it is necessary to replace the sealing rings on the pipe fittings.

Install the steering mechanism on the front suspension subframe and fasten with bolts. The tightening torque of the bolts is 105 Nm (10.5 kgf.m).

Remove the process plugs from the holes of the steering mechanism and high and low pressure pipelines.

Install a new O-ring and connect the high-pressure pipe fitting to the steering mechanism. The tightening torque of the fitting is 21 Nm (2.1 kgf.m).

Install a new O-ring and connect the low-pressure pipe fitting to the steering gear. The tightening torque of the fitting is 21 Nm.

Remove the clamps from the low and high pressure pipelines of the power steering system.

Install the heat shield of the steering mechanism in place and fasten with bolts. The tightening torque of the bolts is 21 Nm (2.1 kgf.m).

We pour the working fluid into the power steering tank and remove the air (pumping is described in the article - Removing the Nissan Almera GUR pump).
