Electronic control unit installed under the floor tunnel lining
The ECU has built-in micromechanical sensors that measure the longitudinal and transverse acceleration of the car in a collision
The ECU evaluates the impact force by comparing the values it receives from the frontal impact sensor, side impact sensors and internal electronic sensors with the set value.
If the deceleration signal due to a frontal or side impact exceeds the set value, the ECU initiates the activation of the seat belt tensioners and the deployment of the corresponding airbags.
If the car's battery is broken during an accident, the electrical voltage retention circuit in the ECU will still be able to activate the airbags for some time from the moment of impact;
– frontal and lateral impact sensors that transmit acceleration information to the system control unit
The force and direction of impact in a traffic accident is determined by the electronic control unit of the passive safety system using impact sensors. Based on sensor signals, the control unit activates the airbags and front seat belt tensioners.
Frontal impact sensors are located on the spars of the car body behind the front bumper
Side impact sensors are installed on the central pillar of the body from the inside behind the linings of the racks;
Side impact sensors are installed on cars with side airbags and inflatable blinds in a variant version.
Replacement of the electronic control unit of the security system
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery
Removing the lining of the tunnel floor, described in the article - How to remove the lining of the floor tunnels of the Hyundai Solaris car
We fold back the locking bracket and disconnect the pads of the wires of the passive safety control unit
Unscrew the three bolts securing the security control unit to the body
And remove the block
When installing the unit, pay attention to the arrow on the label. The arrow should be directed in the direction of movement of the car
Installing the safety unit and all the details in reverse order
Replacement of shock sensors
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
We are waiting for at least one minute to discharge the capacitors of the cushion actuation system
We remove the lower part of the lining of the central pillar of the body
We squeeze the lock of the side impact sensor wire pads
Disconnect the pad from the sensor
Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt to the central pillar of the body and remove the sensor
Installing the sensor and others were done in reverse order
Replacing the frontal impact sensor
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
We are waiting for at least one minute to discharge the capacitors of the cushion actuation system
Removing the front wing fender
We shift and squeeze the lock for fixing the pads of the wires of the frontal impact sensor
Disconnect the pad from the sensor
Unscrew the bolt fastening the frontal impact sensor
Removing the sensor
We install the frontal impact sensor and other parts in reverse order.
